Hope Marie’s Fund is a rescue that serves dogs, cats and small animals that have been surrendered, abandoned or orphaned and are at risk of euthanasia due to medical and/or behavioral issues. With financial support from donors and time and aid support from our volunteers, HMF strives to nurse these loving companions back to mental and physical health and then place them up for adoption, so that they may find their permanent loving homes.
Hope Marie’s Fund (HMF) was started in 2011 by Dr. Cindy Baker O’Dell. The original intention was to start a fund to help owners with paying for medical care for their pets but it quickly morphed into a full-blown animal rescue.
Hope Marie was a Sheltie that came from Hope, IN, via Sheltie Rescue Central Indiana (SRCI) and was adopted by Susan, one of the receptionists at Bargersville Animal Hospital. Hope Marie was very emaciated and in pretty bad shape, but flourished under the care of Dr. Baker O’Dell and Susan. She became the unofficial office manager and everybody that came to Bargersville Animal Hospital knew and loved her. She passed away about the time Dr. Baker O’Dell started the fund, so it is named in her honor.
